Fauxtile is the fusion of an old family recipe with modern material technology to create a piece with the look of renaissance Italy and the lightness and durability of the 21st Century.
Since 1994 Fauxtile has received approval for use in the hospitality industry, primarily for tabletops but also for floors, feature walls and decorative frames.
How do we do it?
Fauxtile starts with a pattern idea transfered to a computer aided design system. This system creates the program for our machining center which engraves the pattern on to a manufactured board, water resistant medium density fiberboard.
Next we hand paint the pattern using our recipe to give the texture and patina of age.
Finally we seal all the surfaces with either acrylic enamel for tabletops or water-based catalyzed floor finish for interior floor applications.
Where can I use it?
Fauxtile is designed for interior or exterior applications. We do recommend bringing tables indoors if they are not being used for extended periods but some of our customers leave their patio tables in place year round.
What Colors are available?
We’ve done many custom designs and colors for clients but for a starting point we offer a standard palette of two color series with six shade variations.

Can it be used for flooring and walls?
Yes. Fauxtile Woodtile is produced in the same manner as our tabletops. Typically the thickness is 1/2″ and unit size of 30×48″ for ease of handling and installation. Fauxtile may be installed over conventional sub floor. A glue down or floating application may be used. The panels are sealed at the factory and the final finish is applied after installation by the installer to seal all seams. We recommend a water-based floor finish which is easy to apply, fast drying and allows ongoing maintenance much the same as conventional wood floor.
Some advantages of Fauxtile:
- Colors can be customized to suit the installation.
- Tile size and shape are flexible and can be up to 60 inches.
- Floating so it does not need to be attached to the underlying surface.
- Warm to the touch compared to ceramic tile.
- Absorbs shock and is not brittle
- Resistant to water damage
- Quick to install
